The Beginning II
When I started painting, I started in the impressionist manner
so as to earn some income -
I painted portraits and landscapes.
Soon I realized that this style of painting did not satisfy me
any more
and asked myself how I could deal with the pressing contemporary
problems
and express them in a valid manner.
I came to the conclusion that the absurd world and crazy humanity
would deserve the craziest expression in art, namely surrealism.
Nowadays I am less inclined to regard humanity as being crazy,
but as being confused and unhappy.
