The Beginning I The above sketch is an attempt at reconstructing one of my first creations, which unfortunately was lost. It already shows the subjects I later preferred: The woman, the umbrella, the fish. At that time I didn't know that women also existed undressed.

Just as I did not know that a fish can be taken for a walk on a leash. That is the reason I replaced it by a dachshund. According to the common convention which I still had, I always used to paint women with a head on the neck.
